Here is an interesting little section of MSNBC that I found in my web wanderings today,. An especially interesting part is called "After Humans." The author of this piece speculates on what we may evolve into three and four million years into the future (I’m not sure where they got the time estimates). Some highlights:
At three million years, we look a bit like what the Borks turned Captain Picard into in Star Trek The Next Generation. We are "Cyborgs" with lots of machine parts and artificial intelligence.(picture on the left)
At four million years into the future, we give the term "egghead" new meaning. We become "Astrans", creatures genetically and technologically engineered for travel to distant stars (picture on the right)
So what happens at 5 million years. I guess we got to wait.
