Put Out the Word

Put Out the Word

Today is my birthday so I thought I'd share a poem. I wrote it on my text software while working on the web.

Put Out the Word

put the word out
put out the word
its the strongest biggest greatest verb
you ever heard
Its a noun for the highest of renowned
so go and put out the word
The word from pen is mightier
than the sword
in the beginning there was a word
(or was that a burning bush)
the word echoes in the emptiness
an impossible sound
recorded here as symbols
symbols that make up the word
the word is a word of letters
esteemed for its ability to
represent our deepest meanings
the most intense of our feelings
sticks and stones can break my bones
but yes words can hurt me
still words can also heal
put the word out
put out the word
one if by land
two if by sea
send out the signal
all over this land
the entire universe can be contained in a word
universe
words are huge enormous
say the word and you'll be free
they say the word is love
put the word out
put out the word
and you will see
the word is a river flowing from my pen
the word is thoughts inside your brain
seeking to have a sound

    Happy birthday, Bruce.
Great poem. The word, indeed. Powerful through the power we give it, yet how weak in this world of conflict, but still a means to put ourselves out there. Words are but symbols of symbols, therefore, one word, but many interpretations.
What are you refering to when you write: “put out the word
    one if by land
    two if by sea”?

How apropos for your birthday, as words have for so long been a marvelous tool for you! Keep on putting out the word, young master! From your older admirer….

Nice poem. In the beginning was the Word. I believe the rest goes “and the word was with God and the word was God.” wow. intense. I love the line, “The entire universe can be contained in a word.”
Now I only need to learn which word sets me free ;-)
    Happy belated birthday my friend!
